Suzhou , China

I hate going to Shanghai, the air traffic is so bad, the flights are always delayed. This time was no different, I was delayed 3.5 hours for a 2.5 hour flight. Grumble grumble.

But eventually I got there and we went to Suzhou.  Suzhou is only a 30min bullet train away from Shanghai, but with a lot more history. It is most famous for its canals and beautiful gardens.  I really ended up liking Suzhou because unlike Lijiang, which was also a tourist city, people actually lived in the old historical part of town and it doesn’t feel like completely packed with tourists. Yes, there were still lots of tourists, but you weren’t sardines on a road, and the stores sold a varied amount of goods. If you wandered off to the side streets, you were off the tourist path completely which was quite nice.

Anyways, here is what I did for my day trip:

Sheng Jian Bao. Delicious!
Old streets of Suzhou. I love the Chinese tiles and weeping willows.
Peeking through the frount door, there is a whole neighbourhood in there!
We are on a touristy street, but right across are old-times hanging around in their homes.
Canals of Suzhou
A pagoda.
The stunning view from Suzhou Train Station

Then we went back to Shanghai and the boys made suits. 120 Yuan for Shirts and 600-900 Yuan for custom design suits. I made a linen dress for 300. Not bad Shanghai. Not bad.

Suit making is fast business

Then I went back to Hong Kong. Of course my flight was delayed 1 hour in the tarmac because Shanghai airspace was too busy.
