Aso, Kyushu, Japan

After Yufuin we drove the short distance to Mt. Aso. Mt. Also is the largest active volcano in Japan and it happened to be active when we visited, so we could not see the caldera up close.

Nethertheless we took a walk near Mt.Aso before we headed into our onsen hotel for another day of soaking.

I am always surprised my parents are up to walking through non marked muddy trails but this was a very beautiful and barren landscape to enjoy.

As our hotel didn’t provide a dinner option, we sought to eat dinner elsewhere. But after an hour of fruitless searching only to realize every restaurant served lunch only we found a restaurant that served soy milk based hot pot. It was the most delicious soup base ever !

And with that we called it a happy Chinese New Year eve .
