Hokkaido Roadtrip – Day 1: Furano and Biel

After 1.5 long years, M was finally coming back to HK. This end of 1.5 years coincided with my mothers 60th birthday. Since she wanted to go to Hokkaido, and M was departing Japan, we went on a little road trip around Hokkaido.

Hokkaido is quite large, and covers around 20% of the land of Japan. The population is also quite little so there aren’t many fast trains. In fact, the Shinkansen (bullet train) line was only finally connected to Sapporo this year. Therefore, to save the pain of waiting and wasting time on trains, we rented a car to drive around Hokkaido.

After a night in Sapporo where we attempted and failed miserably to eat unlimited crab in Sapporo, and learned that a small double bed actually equates to a single bed in any other part of the world, we headed for Furano and Biei.

Furano and Biel is known for its rolling hills, farms, and flowers.
